Human Resource Management - 4 Days

Managing the HR function in an organisation is now a complex task covering many sub disciplines. This programme gives participants the chance to learn more in each specialist area to build up competency in Human Resource Management (HRM).

By examining, discussing, key HR skills and situations over the four days, participants on this course will discover a greater insight into what it means to be a HR professional.

This programme is appropriate for all levels of people responsible for the Human Resources function of their company or organization, and is suited both, for people who are new to the HR function, or professionals with experience, but with no formal training, who would like to widen their knowledge.



How to Develop and Use Competencies - 2 Days

Human Resource Management remains a complex function of organisations. As organisations look more critically at how they manage their people, the competency approach provides a strong platform for sophisticated organisations to link together all the key functions of HR, including training and development. This course assists Human Resource practitioners to understand the role, a competency approach has on the management of human capital; and provides skills in identifying, developing and writing competencies for their organisation.



Recruitment Interviewing - 2 Days

If you are new to interviewing, or have received little formal training in recruitment interviewing, you may think that the hiring process begins as you interview candidates. However, the hiring process begins long before that. There are many areas you must consider, to help you be fully prepared for each interview. This course will enable you to make sure that you are selecting the right people at the right time, in the right place!



Effective Performance Appraisals - 1 Day

Performance appraisals have long been considered to be a significant and indispensable tool for the management of people, however, very often both managers and employees dread the appraisal or review process. This course is designed to show participants how to develop a robust procedure and to conduct performance appraisals or reviews in ways that will increase motivation and productivity, while leaving everyone satisfied with the process.



Developing Job Descriptions - 1 Day

Job descriptions are so commonplace in organisations that people often underestimate their importance or indeed update them regularly! Job descriptions form the basis of decisions around recruitment, promotion, appraisals and disciplinary action. They are thus fundamental, to many human resource processes. This course shows participants the correct format and style, and enables participants to take away these skills to apply them in the workplace.



Developing Policies and Procedures - 1 Day

Writing policies and procedures provides a number of benefits to any organisation. It provides greater consistency and a general increase in morale because guidelines are available and transparent; and ‘set’ policies and procedures can also circumvent certain customer complaints and legal issues.

During this one-day interactive programme, participants will learn how to structure a policy and procedures manual and will gain skills in the best writing style, for effective communication of their company’s policies and procedures.



Business Succession Planning - 1 Day

The loss of valuable leadership can cripple a company. Business succession planning is essentially preparing successors to take on vital leadership roles when the need arises.

Whether it is preparing someone to take over as the sole proprietor of a small business or a position of leadership in a corporation, business succession planning is essential to the long-term survival of a company. This course will teach you the difference between succession planning and mere replacement planning and how to prepare people to take on the responsibilities of leadership, so that the company thrives in the transition.



Making Mentoring Happen - 1 Day

Mentoring programmes play a key role in a Senior Executive’s career advancement and is one of the most effective ways of enhancing their advancement. Almost no one makes it to the top without a Mentor of some sort. 71% of Fortune 500 companies have a mentoring programme (2007) and 60% of UK business leaders have had a mentor, and of these, 97% said they had benefited from the advice given (2005).

As well, 77% of US companies report that mentoring programmes were effective in increasing employee retention. It is not just your Senior Management team that benefits, as recent studies now show that mentors make the biggest impact on staff at the start of their career. This course is designed for Managers to learn skills in Mentoring; work out how to establish a mentoring culture in their organisation, and how to gain a Mentor to enhance their own development.



Managing Change - 2 Days

The old saying that the only constant is change is never more applicable than in today’s business environment. However, managers often have a poor understanding of the complexity of the change process at both organisational and individual level. As a result, acceptance of change in organisations is low, disrupts productivity or even causes them to fail! Managing change is a systematic approach to dealing with change, and has three different aspects, including: adapting to change, controlling change, and effecting change. A proactive approach to dealing with change is at the core of this course and Managers will leave the course with skills in all three aspects.



Train the Trainer - 3 Days

Whether you are preparing to be a professional trainer, or you are someone who does a bit of training as a part of your job, you’ll want to be prepared for the training that you do. This workshop will give participants various types of trainer’s tools to help them create and deliver engaging, compelling workshops that will encourage trainees to come back for more. Participants will learn and understand the difference between training, facilitating and presenting, and be able to identify participant’s training needs. Along with the practical skills, you will learn how to develop lesson plans incorporating learning preferences, create an active, engaging learning environment, visual aids and understand how to manage difficult participants and tough topics.
